Foreign film report Movie Review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Foreign film report - Movie Review Example The story is a series of flashbacks that tackled their struggles and triumphs during their college life. Rancho, Fahran and Raju were labeled idiots by the dean whom the students call Virus like the computer virus. The dean had several attempts to break their friendship by calling in Fahran and Raju’s parents telling them that Rancho is a bad influence to the two, blackmailing them and several others that had constantly failed. There was one part in the story that really made an impact, it was when Raju’s dad, the postmaster, was rushed to the hospital, after that they had to take an exam. All three were worried that they will fail the exam and when results were released, Raju and Fahran were the last two on the list that passed. Initially they had thought that Rancho failed but then it turned out that he topped the exams. And it continued to be like that for until they graduated. Their friendship was tested when Raju jumped off the third floor or the building because V irus has blackmailed him into choosing whether to tell on Rancho and he would be off the hook or he would keep his silence and he would be the one expelled. He chose to jump off the building therefore putting him on a comatose for a period of time. Rancho and Fahran did everything to make him wake up and succeeded. The story ended with the two finding their long lost friend and finding out that he had become a scientist. I liked the movie since it had emphasized the value of education, the importance of friends and that excellence comes from doing what you love the most. It is sometimes hard to find a film that can both inspire and make you laugh at the same time. And the film brought a greater understanding of the Indian culture. There were points of the film that it would just simply inspire one to excel, appreciate the triumphs and failures that are part of college life. It also shows that real friends are the rare and must valued. The film can also boast of a lot of moral lesson s in the film that are sometimes unexpected since a lot of segments in the movie shows the mischief that the three has gotten themselves into. The simplicity of the movie made it very entertaining. In the movie what struck me as different from the movie is the fact that there are parts of the movie that they had musical segments in it. There would be intervals in the movie wherein there would be a musical or a song to express the thought or to make a point. In the film, Rancho was the odd one; he doesn’t conform to the normal standards of the school. He would always be an outcast, the one always misunderstood because he views things in a different way. And when it comes to their family, what I have observed is that they follow whatever their parents want. It seemed like disobeying them is somewhat a grave offense so even if they are forced to the course that they do not have any interest in, they would do it just to obey their parent’s wishes. The time flow in the movi e seemed slow at first, but after the first few minutes, it became very much interesting that one wouldn’t notice how long the movie really is. There was a lot of humor put into the story and a lot of lessons from life that one would simply be unaware of

Argument of Evaluation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Argument of Evaluation - Essay Example "The Artist† truly deserves the award it scoped as the ‘Best Picture’ movie during the 2012 Oscars. The movie leaves its audience with real pleasure in the way Hazanavicius makes use of tics and trick of silence together with care and wisdom. He goes further to include musical emotional rhythm emulated from some of the best movies ever witnessed. "The Artist† fluctuates between sad and funny and changes the sound age dawn into an individual tragedy presented to the audience as silent melodrama (Scott 3). The nostalgia used in the movie is instructive as witnessed in the scene where Valentin and Miller are seen tap-dancing on each other sides reminding the viewer of the visually inventive of how early films developed on sound could be. The other scene is when Vlanetin has a conversation with a policeman without title cards reminding the audience of the good silent movie it is. Such scenes call for a lot of imagination from the viewers hence they are fully involved and absorbed in the movie (Bradshaw 4). It is a miraculous form of entertainment that unexpectedly expresses a good deal about the pride of men and emotional literature. The final film of ‘the Artist’ was released in the year 2011making it one of the most joyful and heart-swelling silent movies and was screened in white and black, projecting it in an old fashioned Academy ratio boxy. Some of the lines in the movie are observed to be occasionally printed on dialogue intertitle cards. â€Å"The Artist† is places among the long tradition group of movies and it revolves around a film star who is established together with a young actress who is beguiling coming from the early Thirties and late Twenties Hollywood (Bradshaw 4). This was the period which was marked by the talkies rise. As the settings and pilot of the movie bring out the scenery of singing in the rain, the movie pulls in a different direction to Donen and Kelly’s sonically and visually screen music that

Five Forces Model of Porter Ahold is based in the Netherlands and is an international retailing group. They operate in a lot of formats and channels but there core business is selling great food and supermarkets. Ahold has 14 brands in Europe and the U.S. In this chapter you can find an analyze of how the company is positioned in the branch because Ahold has so many companys we just use for this analyze only Albert Heijn. http://notesdesk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/porters-five-forces-model.jpg For this analyze we use the Five forces model of Porter which you can see in the figure opposite. With this model you can see an overview of the industry rivalry viewed from four different points of view. 4. Threat of new entrants In Europe the supermarkets do not have a lot of threats of new entrants. It is very hard for entrepreneurs to start a new supermarket because when they do start a new supermarket the other existing supermarkets lower the sales price of their products. The new supermarket is not able to lower their sale price because he has more production costs and initial costs than the already existing supermarkets. Bargaining power of customers Customers are a threat for the Albert Heijn. When the customers are pleased about the supermarket they will buy their products an come back every time they need to buy groceries but when Albert Heijn sells products that the customers do not like, they will go the another supermarket. For example: Albert Heijn sells the product COCA Cola. Albert Heijn wanted to save on the cost price of their products so they called COCA Cola. Albert Heijn demands a discount on the cost price of 2%. COCA Cola did not accept that so they stopped to deliver their product to Albert Heijn. After a few weeks the customers complained a lot and the did there grocery shopping in another supermarket where they did sell COCA Cola. Within a month the Albert Heijn did sell COCA Cola again and they were paying the original cost price. Threat of substitutes There are not a lot of threats of substitutes for Albert Heijn. One of the threats are the restaurants. When people eat at a restaurant they do not have to buy grocery for diner. However most of the people do not eat constantly in a restaurant and when they do, they have to buy grocery for the rest of the day. At the Albert Heijn you can buy almost every brand from expensive till the cheapest brands. Most of the brands are also sold in the other supermarkets in the country. So for the substitutes the consumers do not have to go to another supermarket. Bargaining power of suppliers The suppliers do have a lot of bargaining power when they are with a lot of different suppliers as a group. For example Albert Heijn in the Netherlands lower the purchase price to lower their costs. The suppliers did not agreed with this and take action against the Albert Heijn. The suppliers won so the Albert Heijn needs to pay the original price. One supplier has not a lot of bargaining power and he just basically has to do whatever the Albert Heijn wants. America Online: Is It For Me? :: essays research papers

America Online: Is It For Me? You have probably heard of the Internet, but you weren't really sure if it was for you. You thought about it, but after all it costs so much and things like pornography and improper language are used everywhere, right? Wrong! Perhaps, I can convince you that America Online will be worth your time and money. One of the main reasons that people don't go online is that they think that it costs too much. America Online or AOL doesn't really cost all that much. When you sign on you get from 10 to 50 hours free, depending on the software that you download. Once you run out of free hours you may choose to stay online with a monthly fee. This monthly fee can be either $9.95 or $19.95 depending on how many hours you plan on using. If you are concerned that your children will visit web pages you prefer that they don't, then you can put parental guards on that don't allow them to visit those web pages. If you aren't familiar with web pages, they are basically ads that you look at containing information about the company, person, or product. Also you can sign your child on as a child or teen which keeps them out of restricted areas. Perhaps your main concern is people finding out things that you don't want them to. They only know as much as you tell them. If they ask for your password, credit card number, or any other personal info, you don't have to tell them that information. When you first sign on AOL staff will ask for things like name, age, address, phone number, and your credit card or checking account number. These things remain confidential and are used only for billing purposes. If anyone ask for personal information you can easily report them to AOL. When someone is reported they are either warned or kicked off the Internet. You can also report people that swear or use any kind of offensive words. Many of the chat rooms are guarded by "online hosts" or people that belong to AOL. These "guards" make sure nothing bad happens in chat rooms. You can be sure that there are AOL staff in the romance rooms, especially, because that is where the most foul and vulgar language takes place. If you are too young to be in the room, they will tell you to leave and go to a room where people your age belong. The world "online" also offers thousands of Reference sources like Groliers Multimedia Encyclopedia and over 100 magazines.

Women Play A More Important Role Than Men In Families Today

The famous quote â€Å"Women hold up half the sky† was made by Chairman Mao during his reign in the 20th century. Today, in modern times, some may feel that women have increased their superiority against the other gender and may play an even more important role than men in some areas. With regard to the context of family, I feel that although there has been an increase in the role of women these days, men still play an equally important part in the family. Since prehistoric times, men have always been the ones who have been the breadwinners of the family.Cavemen would go out to hunt for food, while their wives would stay at home and look after the children. However, in our modern day, gone are the times when women were only good for cooking and child-bearing. Education has allowed women to surge to greater heights, not only in the working world but at home as well. Most men can no longer claim superiority over women based on being the sole breadwinner, and now, women play an e qually important role as men in providing family income. With greater education these days, women have also allowed themselves to play a larger role in shaping their children’s future. In the past, children only learnt in school most of the time, as their fathers were busy with work while their mothers did not learn enough to help them in their studies. Not all children were fortunate enough to have extra tutorship sessions. In our current times, women are now better equipped to help their children with the skills needed to help their children in the primary years of their education. Most women at least go through secondary education, which would be more than enough to tutor their children with. This has allowed for the development of greater minds as more children are able to cope with their studies even if they do not have tuition. In the long term, better education would help to develop our society even more. With the allowance of women to gain education, it has allowed them to play a more integral role in helping their children excel in their academics. However, one cannot deny that the existence of husbands in the family structure is still a dominant role despite of the many changes from the past to the present. The support of the male counterpart is important for both male and female children. For males, having a father figure helps them define masculinity. It is during their younger days, when boys view their father as their hero, that they find their inner sense of chivalry and courage which helps them grow up as men in the future. For girls, seeing how their father treats their mother helps to shape their perspective of how they view men to be.With the liberation of women, one may feel inclined to think that women have definitely become more superior to men in the family. However, I still feel that men definitely have an integral part to play in the shaping of the minds of children. With that in mind, I feel that women have elevated themselves to the position where they are on the edge of surpassing the importance of men in the family. However, they are definitely not more important than men but rather of almost equal importance as men are irreplaceable in the growing and nurturing of their young in the family.

Disadvantages of socio medical model

Do biomedical models of Illness make for good healthcare systems? Introduction Cultural and professional models of illness Influence declslons on Individual patients and delivery of health care. The biomedical model of illness, which has dominated health care for the past century, cannot fully explain many forms of illness. This failure stems partly from three assumptions: all illness has a single underlying cause, disease (pathology) is always the single cause, and removal or attenuation of the disease will result In a return to health.Evidence exists that all three assumptions are wrong. We describe the problems with current models and describe a new model, derived from the World Health Organization's international classification of functioning framework. 1 2 that provides a more comprehensive. less biologically dependent account of illness.
